Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) has once again been confirmed as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series which measures the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.

Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) has once again been confirmed as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series which measures the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.

The series aims to provide a tool for investors to investigate the ESG criteria of companies across the globe. It assesses companies on a range of specific areas related to ESG including climate change, health and safety and corporate governance.

IPL Managing Director and CEO Jeanne Johns welcomed the confirmation.

“We’re delighted and proud to be recognised in the FTSE4Good Index Series,” Ms Johns said.

“As part of our licence to operate and as society’s expectations continue to grow, we are focused on operating our business sustainably. We do this every day through looking after our environment, supporting our people to work safely and, importantly, partnering with our local communities.

“In March we released our 10th sustainability report which recognises the work of our 5,000 employees across the 13 countries in which we operate. A key part of our sustainability agenda is our approach to climate change and our long-term aspiration to net zero. We recognise how important our response is for our employees, customers and many stakeholders.”

Last year IPL delivered on its target of a 10% reduction in emissions intensity per tonne of ammonia against a 2015 baseline.

Decarbonisation projects equivalent to the amount emitted by around 43,000 cars every year are progressing and Ms Johns said work investigating new technologies was underway as part of efforts to create a lower carbon future.

“We’re also excited by the opportunities presented by green and blue ammonia for our business and our customers in the medium term.

“Given our world class hydrogen and ammonia handling expertise and our ammonia assets capable of converting to renewable hydrogen, there’s many potential future benefits for us and our customers,” Ms Johns said.
