IPL's sustainability performance again recognised in global rankings

For the ninth consecutive year, Incitec Pivot Limited’s commitment to sustainability has been recognised, with inclusion in S&P Global annual rankings and the Sustainability Yearbook 2020.

The annual rankings rate the sustainability of the world’s largest companies in each industry, with Incitec Pivot selected for inclusion in the Yearbook after ranking in the top 15 per cent of industry peers.

The ranking is based on annual SAM ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) scores that identify companies well-placed to recognise and respond to emerging opportunities and challenges in the global market.

IPL Managing Director & CEO Jeanne Johns said: “We’re delighted to be included in this year’s S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2020.

“Our inclusion alongside the world’s best performing companies is testament to the focus we are placing on operating sustainably across our global company. Our sustainability strategy is about delivering growth and shareholder returns while caring for our people, our communities and the environment,” Ms Johns said.

During the 2019 financial year, IPL released a Climate Change Policy which includes support for the international Paris Climate Agreement and sets out how the management of climate related issues are integrated into the company’s overall strategy.

“We have progressed our sustainability agenda by committing to acting in accordance with the Taskforce on Climate related Financial Disclosure requirements when it comes to reporting on the risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

“We are also working with our customers and suppliers to look at how we can more effectively collaborate to manage the challenges of climate change, including reducing our customer’s emissions through the use of our premium technologies,” Ms Johns said.

The S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2020 provided more information and insights than last year and the number of assessed companies, 4,700, was almost double compared to last year.
