As an international chemical manufacturer that contributes to the production of the infrastructure, food, clothing, shelter and energy that people need every day, we are connecting you to more success, more impact, more opportunities, more flexibility and more committed people by your side.

At every touch-point along the recruitment process, you will be welcomed by a team that will value your skills, respect your capability and build on your strengths so that both you and the business can succeed and thrive.

We work closely with hiring managers when filling vacant roles to ensure a fair, consistent and inclusive selection process is always followed. This process may include behavioural based interviewing, psychometric testing, reference checking, medical examinations and site visits.

Application

The first step in the application process is to submit of your online application via Career Opportunities. Here you will be able to search/apply for jobs, create a candidate profile and attach your CV.

It is important that all sections of the application are filled out - please note that if an incomplete application is received, it may not be considered.

Once you have submitted an application online, you will receive notification from us via email to advise you that your application has been received by a member of the Recruitment Team.

Review

Once your application has been made it will be reviewed by the recruiter for that role. Your skills and experience will be assessed against the key selection criteria to determine your suitability for the role.

Phone Screen

For certain roles you may be required to undertake a phone screen which will be a short 20-30 minute phone interview with a recruitment advisor, where you will be asked to give some further information about yourself. This allows us to get to know you better, and give you a few details about the assessment process.

Behavioural Interview

The recruitment team, in conjunction with the hiring managers, will shortlist the candidates they wish to progress through to the interviewing stage of the process.

The interview is competency based and will be conducted by the hiring managers alongside a member of the recruitment team.

Depending on your location, this could be in the form of a face-to-face interview; these interviews generally take about an hour, and use the behavioral interviewing technique, which allows us to determine how you will perform the duties based on your prior behavior in the workplace.

Further Testing

After the behavioral interview stage we may require you to complete either a psychometric test or a skills based test.

This will be organised with you after the interview and more information will be provided at that stage.

Pre-Employment Checks

Following the interview process a decision will be made as to who will progress through to the final stages of the recruitment process where pre-employment checks are conducted.

You will then be required to undertake the following:

References

On your application, you should provide the details of two work referees who can verify your experience. Typically, you would provide the names of two people who supervised you in recent roles.

Pre-Employment Medical

All new employees are required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment specific to the site's requirements. Details of the medical and the tests that are required will be provided to you at this stage.

The pre-employment medical will be conducted at IPL’s cost and within one of our nominated medical centres.

At IPL, we have a zero tolerance to drug and alcohol. Accordingly all employees are required to undertake a drug and alcohol screen prior to offer of employment.

Site Visit

Dependent on the role you may then be invited to a site visit to enable you to familiarise yourself with the working environment, and meet with your prospective managers and workmates. It is also a great opportunity for you to address any further queries you have about the role, and learn more about IPL.

Verbal Offer

Once pre-employment checks have been successfully completed you will be made a verbal offer by a member of the Recruitment Team.

Formal Offer

Following acceptance of a verbal offer a written offer will be provided to you for you to indicate your acceptance of the role. A new starter employment pack will then be sent out to your home address following acceptance.

Unsuccessful candidates

Due to the large number of applications we receive for each job posting, unsuccessful candidates will be notified via email of their outcome.

Candidates who are unsuccessful during the final stages of the recruitment process will be contacted by the recruiter of that role and provided with feedback.
