Anhydrous Ammonia

The "building block" for all nitrogen products, ammonia is one of the most widely traded commodities in the world.  In industry, its most common applications are in refrigeration, metals extraction, effluent treatment and detergents.

Ammonia is manufactured at Gibson Island and Phosphate Hill.

Aqua Ammonia

Aqua Ammonia is a liquid mixture of ammonia gas and water and is used in making refrigerants and home and commercial cleaning products.

Incitec Pivot manufactures this product at Gibson Island.

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide is produced at Gibson Island and has a number of uses in food processing, storage and distribution as a refrigerate or cooling agent and is used to provide the "fizz" is soft drinks and other beverages.

Easy U-Sol

Urea solution (40% or 50%) is used industrially as a nitrogen source for yeast to convert sugars to ethanol, to create favourable pH buffering in activated sludge treatment processes for winery effluent and environmentally as a reagent to reduce NOx emissions.

Fluosilicic Acid (FSA or Hydrofluorosilicic Acid)

Fluosilicic Acid is an aqueous solution of 20% H2SiF6 used for the Fluoridation of drinking water. Incitec Pivot manufactures the product in Geelong and Portland, Victoria, and distributes it nationally.  Fluosilicic Acid is the most widely used fluoridation agent in Australia, and has several advantages over powdered fluoridation products, including the elimination of manual handling, dust control, and slurrification. The product is particularly suitable in mid sized to larger water treatment plants.

Industrial Urea

Locally manufactured and imported urea is supplied to industrial customers for use in resin, explosive and food processing manufacture.  Industrial resins are used in the manufacture of such forestry products as Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF), particle board and plywood.

Industrial urea is also used in the manufacture of fibreglass, paint and as a solution in the control of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions.

Palfos

Palfos is an imported product for use as an ingredient in the manufacture of stockfeed and provides a high source of phosphorous and calcium.

Potassium Chloride (Muriate of Potash, or MOP)

Potassium Chloride is used in metal processing and as an animal food additive.  Incitec Pivot has the product available nationally, in both commercial grade (granular and fine) and technical grade, a fully soluble white powder.

SCR Urea

SCR Urea is an aqueous urea solution that is used for reducing NOx (NO, NO2) emissions from diesel engines.  SCR Urea is produced on site at the Gibson Island urea plant from prime urea solution.  All operations including storage take place at the plant, avoiding the need to dissolve, dilute or blend off-site.

Sulphate of Ammonia

Sulphate of ammonia is used as a material in the chemical industry and as a hardener for mixing with resin in the manufacture of medium density fibre board. It is available in both granular and crystalline grades.

Sulphuric Acid

Sulphuric Acid is the most widely used industrial chemical in the world, utilised in the production of fertiliser, steel, textiles, paper, petroleum, food, and electricity. Incitec Pivot manufactures sulphuric acid at Mt Isa and imports this product for distribution throughout the eastern states of Australia.

The product is a heavy, oily liquid, highly corrosive, with a clear to milky colour.  Commercial strength is 98% H2SO4 with a range of dilute strengths also available at the Port Adelaide plant.
