$500,000 plant improvement

Capital improvements at Incitec Pivot's fertiliser blending and distribution centre at Kooragang Island will deliver benefits to farmers across New South Wales

A new $500,000 computer-controlled blender provides greater accuracy in formulating fertiliser for specific applications, providing a superior product for farmers.

"The new plant enables us to create more precise blends to meet crop nutrient requirements," said Bob Cairney, Incitec Pivot's central region operations manager.

"This is cost-effective for farmers and environmentally friendly because it can eliminate or greatly reduce over-application."

Incitec Pivot's Kooragang Island distribution centre annually dispatches more than 200,000 tonnes of bulk and packaged ammonium phosphate, nitrogen and single superphosphate fertilisers over an area stretching from the NSW coast to Moree in the west and Griffith and Wagga Wagga in the south.

The company also manufactures and distributes more than 200,000 tonnes of bulk single superphosphate fertiliser from a separate plant at Cockle Creek.
