Green Urea

Incitec Pivot Limited's new Green Urea™ fertilisers have been developed for topdressing where volatilisation losses of ammonia to the atmosphere are likely.

Green Urea products contain urea treated with the urease inhibitor, N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT), to delay hydrolysis of urea into nitrogen forms that may be lost to the atmosphere.

Green Urea 7 can limit volatilisation losses for up to seven days, while Green Urea 14 offers up to 14 days protection.

Australian and international trials indicate Green Urea products can also boost yields, while improving fertiliser use and efficiency compared to urea.

Green urea products are beneficial for surface applications:

• during warm conditions
• on alkaline soils
• where high residue levels contribute to higher urease activity
• where surface-applied urea is exposed to high winds due to open canopies
• where significant follow-up rainfall does not arrive within two days of application
• on light, textured soils.
