ENTEC Products

ENTEC® acts as an ammonium stabiliser by reducing the activity of nitrifying bacteria.

The new ENTEC products have been developed to help farmers reduce the frequency of their nitrogen applications.

ENTEC products also improve production outcomes while reducing risks in unpredictable seasons by slowing the process of nitrification, reducing spikes of nitrate and lowering the risk of nitrate leaching and denitrification.

Containing the active ingredient 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate, ENTEC products work like a sleeping pill on the nitrifying bacteria in the soil, suppressing nitrification and retaining nitrogen in the stable ammonium form for up to 10 weeks.

ENTEC is applied to a range of nitrogenous fertilisers, including Gran-Am®, Nitrophoska Blue Special® and urea.

ENTEC products provide numerous potential benefits including:

• increased yield
• enhanced crop quality
• reduced frequency of applications compared with products not treated with ENTEC
• more accurately matching crop nutrient supply with demand
• optimised water use by delaying nitrification during the vegetative stage of crops
• preferential uptake of ammonium nitrogen by the crop instead of nitrate nitrogen
• reduced leaching losses in leaky soils by retaining nitrogen in the ammonium form for longer
• reduced denitrification losses under water-logged conditions by retaining fertiliser nitrogen in the ammonia form for longer.
