Louisiana Governor Holds Dedication Event for IPL Plant

On 19 October 2016, Incitec Pivot Limited announced the successful completion of the performance testing process for its ammonia plant at Waggaman, Louisiana. Management and operation of the plant was handed over to IPL on this date.

Prior to this, on Thursday 29 September, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and Incitec Pivot Limited Chairman Paul Brasher dedicated the completion of construction of the Dyno Nobel $850 million ammonia plant.

During the ceremony on 29 September, Paul Brasher said “Today’s ceremony marks an important milestone for our world-scale ammonia plant in Waggaman, Louisiana,” “This plant is a transformational event for our Dyno Nobel business in the U.S. and for our company. It is the first ammonia plant to have been built in the state in over 25 years and we could not have achieved this without the support and engagement of the State of Louisiana, Louisiana Economic Development, Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission, Jefferson Parish and the Waggaman Community.”

IPL took over management of the plant, which has a name plate capacity of 800,000 metric tons of ammonia per year, on 19 October 2016, after final commissioning and testing were completed.

The ammonia production facility utilizes state-of-the-art technology, and upon completion will rank among the most-efficient ammonia plants in the world today. Additionally, the plant incorporates the latest control technologies to produce the lowest air pollution of any ammonia facility to date.
